AC promotes Pilot Bread sales to buy books in rural Alaska schools.

April 13, 2011

Every March, AC teams with Interbake Foods to purchase books for children in rural Alaska. Each year AC stores build displays to promote and sell Sailor Boy Pilot Bread. Pilot Bread is a shelf-stable bread item that is widely used in northern Alaska. Interbake Foods sponsors a campaign, with the help of AC, to encourage customers to buy a box of Sailor Boy Pilot Bread in the month of March. With each purchase, Sailor Boy donates 50 cents to First Book Advisory Boards, which puts new books into the hands of Alaskan children. This March, our stores sold 4,272 boxes of Pilot Bread generating $2136.00 to buy books for children who would not otherwise be able to afford them. Thanks to all AC stores for going the extra mile to build displays and enrich the quality of life in the communities we serve.
