Junior Achievement

February 1, 2011

Every day, children in Alaska learn about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and workforce readiness through Junior Achievement programs. The generous gift of $5000 from ACC helps Junior Achievement continue making a difference in the lives of Sitka's children. Because of this contribution, Mt. Edgecombe will have a Company Program for the first time. ACC Lakeside store manager, Bob Burnett, volunteers to help the students in Bill Winslow's class start their own company. Their expertise will help the students form the company, sell stock, select and sell products and return a dividend to their stock holders.
Students in the elementary schools will benefit as well from ACC's involvement with Junior Achievement. Thanks to ACC's donation, Jeff Budd, Community Chair for Sitka, is able to offer Junior Achievement programs to eight elementary classes. Jeff Budd thanks ACC for their commitment to support the youth of Alaska in Junior Achievement, helping make a difference in our communities across Alaska.
